James Laase is currently studying under the tutelage of Eugene Izotov at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Previously he completed his Bachelor of Music at the Cleveland Institute of Music studying with Cleveland Orchestra principal Oboe, Frank Rosenwein.
An avid orchestral musician, James has performed with a multitude of prominent orchestras throughout the U.S. His performances include but are not limited to the Houston Symphony, the New World Symphony, the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, the Akron Symphony Orchestra, and more. Beyond his orchestral work, he has had the opportunity to refine his craft at top tier programs such as the Aspen Music Festival and Brevard Music Center. In addition, James is a passionate chamber musician, frequently performing around the community in a variety of wind groups.
James is an accomplished soloist, soloing at the Wortham Theatre in Houston as winner of the Helen B. Olshan Concerto Competition. Prior to his collegiate career he studied with Anne Leek, Associate Principal Oboe of the Houston Symphony. Whether on stage or in the practice room, his goal is to push artistic boundaries and create performances that resonate deeply with listeners.
